Rs.160 crore for four-laning work.

The government has sanctioned Rs.160 crore for the phase II four-laning of the 6.5-km Pravachambalam-Vazhimukku stretch of the NH-66 from Karamana to Kaliyikkavila on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.

The District Collector has been authorised to hold talks with the land owners and fix the price for the land to be acquired, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said.

Land acquisition on the Pravachambalam-Vazhimukku stretch had stalled after the State Level Purchase Committee (SLPC) objected to the fair value proposed by the District Level Purchase Committee. Sixty per cent of the four-laning works on the 5.5-km stretch from Karamana to Pravachambalam has been completed.
