Rs.7 crore for works on cattle feed plant.

Giving a fillip to the hi-tech cattle feed production plant coming up under the aegis of Kerala Feeds Ltd. at Thiruvangur in the Koyilandy Assembly constituency, the State government has sanctioned Rs. 7 crore for the timely completion of the project.

The plant was meant as a relief for dairy farmers in Malabar region, who were facing a shortage of quality cattle feed at affordable prices.

The plant project was launched in Thiruvangur for an outlay of Rs. 52.90 crore with financial aid from NABARD.

The plant construction is scheduled to be completed by September. It will have amenities such as a godown, rainwater harvesting, canteen, boiling unit, and restrooms for labourers. The factory will have a capacity to produce 300 tonnes of cattle feed a day.

The project, sanctioned by the government in 2011, is expected to benefit a large number of dairy farmers in Malabar. Though located in Thiruvangur, the products from the factory would be distributed through sub-dealers across the State.
