Saint-Gobain to open its largest glass manufacturing facility in Rajasthan.

French glass manufacturer the Saint-Gobain group will open its largest glass manufacturing facility in the world next week in Rajasthan. Located at Bhiwadi, the plant has been built at an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore and has a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per day.

'This is our largest glass manufacturing facility in the world. We expect to generate revenue of Rs. 700-800 crore annually from this facility in the beginning,' said B. Santhanam, president—flat glass, South Asia, Saint-Gobain Glass India Ltd.

The plant is spread across 136 acres with a built-up area of 1.14 lakh sq. m.

According to Santhanam, with this facility in place, around 95% of the products sold in India will be made in the country. Saint-Gobain, which has around $6 billion glass business globally, is expected to clock revenue of Rs. 4,800 crore in India this year.

We started in 2000 and have invested a total of Rs .4,500 crore in India till now,” said Santhanam.
