Schneider Electric Unveils ₹3,200 Crore Investment Plan for India

Schneider Electric, a leading provider of digital transformation in energy management and automation, has announced plans to invest ₹3,200 crore in expanding its industrial operations in India by 2026. Michael Lotfy Gierges, Executive Vice President of the Global Home & Distribution Division at Schneider Electric, shared this development with BusinessLine.

These investments will be distributed across various states including Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

India currently serves as one of Schneider Electric's four global hubs and stands as its third-largest market worldwide, according to Gierges. He emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing customer support, accelerating energy transition, and facilitating electrification efforts in India.

Amid India's impressive economic growth and the government's ambitious targets to boost GDP by 2027, Gierges affirmed Schneider Electric's dedication to growing alongside the nation. The company aims to expand its presence and actively contribute to the country's progress.

Schneider Electric also plans to increase its workforce in India by adding 6,500 employees to its existing base of over 37,000 by 2026. Gierges revealed a 20% expansion plan for the workforce over the next three years.

Gierges highlighted the alignment of Schneider Electric's objectives with the Indian government's 'India for India' and 'India for Global' strategies. He emphasized the company's focus on talent development and enhancing research and development capabilities. Schneider Electric intends to expand its manufacturing footprint by over 1 million square feet, leveraging India's potential for both local and global markets.

With 30 manufacturing plants already operational, Gierges emphasized Schneider Electric's commitment to providing energy management, next-generation automation, and sustainability solutions across various industry segments in India. The company operates under multiple brands including Schneider Electric, L&T Electrical & Automation, Luminous, and AVEVA.
