Seepz-Kanjurmarg Metro line to be finished by 2018.

The Seepz-Kanjurmarg Metro corridor is expected to be completed by June 2018. Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) plans to finish this stretch on priority basis before the opening of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz underground Metro III.
The deadline for the 32.5-km Metro III underground corridor is 2019 as per the original plan prepared by the authorities. A senior state government official said, 'The 32.5-km stretch will be opened in phases, with the first stretch being from Seepz to BKC, expected to open by June 2019.'

The second phase, which will be between BKC-Science museum, will open by December 2019 and the final stretch upto Cuffe Parade by April 2020.

As per planning, priority has been given to work where the car depot has been planned. Since The official added that since the depot was going to shift from Aarey to Kanjurmarg, it was but obvious that work on the Kanjurmarg-Seepz corridor would begin and conclude first.

He further said, 'The Kanjurmarg-Seepz stretch is 10.5 km and is planned as elevated, which is much easier to operate. This line will not merge with the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz corridor and will run independently, with interchange facility as Seepz.'

The state government plans to have at least 118 km of the Metro operational by 2019.

The Rs 5,566-crore Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro will be executed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC), who have also prepared the detailed project report. The Dahisar-DN Nagar corridor is a part of Metro II corridor, which will eventually connect Mankhurd via Bandra.

The DMRC has also been appointed interim consultants for the Rs 4,737 crore Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East) Metro-7 corridor.

The tenders for both these projects will be floated soon and work expected to begin this financial year.

The MMRDA has also asked DMRC to update the detailed project report for Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarwadavli Metro, besides exploring the possibility of extending it upto CST near GPO.
