Service road work from October.

Construction of a service road along the Container Road, which has become a death-trap lately, will be launched in the first week of October, a meeting of officials concerned, convened by District Collector Mohammed Y. Safirulla, has decided. The contract for the construction will be signed on September 22, Mini Mathew, executive engineer of Construction Corporation, said.

The road, with a length of 2.65 km, is expected to cost Rs. 4.7 crore and the targeted period for the completion of the work is nine months.

A service road along the Container Road is expected to put an end to the container lorry parking menace that’s caused numerous mishaps along the stretch. Bharat Petroleum has agreed to make five acres of land in their possession available as parking space for nearly 200 trucks.
