South Korean Delegation to Visit UAE for High-Speed Rail and Infrastructure Bids.

A high-level South Korean delegation is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this week to strengthen Seoul's bids for high-speed rail and infrastructure projects in the Middle Eastern nation, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport on Wednesday.

The delegation, led by Land Minister Park Sang-woo, will meet with UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei on Friday to discuss bilateral cooperation in the transport and infrastructure sectors. One of the key topics will be the UAE's proposed high-speed railway project connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The South Korean ministry has formed a public-private sector team to bid for the UAE railway project, including the state-run Korea National Railway, Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL), Hyundai Rotem Co., and POSCO E&C Co. The team has successfully passed the prequalification stage of the bidding process.

The delegation will highlight South Korea's technological expertise and the economic viability of its high-speed rail models, citing recent successes in securing major export deals in Uzbekistan and Morocco.

Additionally, the delegation will discuss further cooperation under a memorandum of understanding signed last year during the UAE president's state visit to South Korea. This agreement aims to facilitate joint ventures in third-country infrastructure markets, particularly in post-conflict recovery regions, combining South Korea's construction know-how with the UAE's financial resources.
