Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Ltd. to commission new unit in Punjab.

The new Maize Processing Unit of Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Ltd. will be commissioned in the State of Punjab at Rehana Jattan, Tehsil Phagwara. The new unit will start its operations in the third week of October, 2020. Initially, the Unit will run at lower capacity and it will increase its production as the Covid situation unfolds going forward.

The company's oldest unit, operating at Phagwara (Punjab) since 1943 will close down most of its manufacturing facilities from the 15th of this month and its remaining (about 10-15%) operations will be fully wound up in about 3 months time. This unit has smallest capacity amongst all units of the Company and has come in the centre of the town with commercial activities all round making inward / outward movement of material difficult besides other operational problems with adverse effect on the viability of the unit.
