Uppercase, an eco-friendly luggage brand founded in 2021 and launched in early 2023, is aiming for a revenue of ₹250 crore by the fiscal year 2026, with plans to break even the following year. The brand emphasizes its eco-friendly mission, having recycled the equivalent of 18 lakh plastic bottles, saved 1.47 lakh kilograms of CO2, and conserved 32,000 liters of oil over the past 21 months.
Led by Sudip Ghose, a veteran with nearly two decades in the travel gear industry, Uppercase offers sustainable travel gear, including hard luggage, backpacks, duffel bags, and office satchels. Its flagship product, the "Bullet" hard luggage line, has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot award for design.
"The backpack market is almost ₹10,000 crore across all price points. We aim to capture at least 2% of this market within the next five years," Sudip Ghose, Founder and MD of Uppercase, told Businessline.
Uppercase currently employs around 60 people and plans to recruit an additional 20-40 employees by the end of this financial year. The company is also in the process of raising Series B funding. With an average selling price of around ₹3,000, Uppercase products are available in 1,600 outlets across the country, with plans to expand to 2,500 stores. Additionally, the company intends to open around 50 standalone retail stores this financial year, with five expected to launch by the end of this quarter in Bombay, Bangalore, and Delhi.
