"Tamil Nadu Government Inks Deals to Secure ₹5,567 Crore Investments from MSMEs in Chennai District"

Tamil Nadu is set to witness a substantial influx of ₹5,567 crore in investments from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across various sectors in the Chennai region. The state government's proactive approach to promoting new investments through roadshows in cities and districts has resulted in the signing of proposals on Wednesday.

The state government, in collaboration with 293 MSMEs representing industries such as auto parts, defence, electronics, and IT, inked agreements to secure total investments amounting to ₹5,566.92 crore for the Chennai district. Significantly surpassing the initial target of ₹4,368 crore set for the district, this influx of investment is expected to pave the way for job opportunities, benefiting 26,447 individuals.

TM Anbarasan, the MSME Minister of the Tamil Nadu government, expressed satisfaction with the surpassing investments, stating in an official statement that this achievement reflects the success of the state's efforts to attract and facilitate MSME investments.

The minister highlighted various measures implemented by the state government to support MSMEs. Notably, the government has introduced a credit guarantee scheme, ensuring collateral-free loans for MSMEs. As of now, 24,348 MSME entrepreneurs have received ₹3,477.72 crore in loans, with a guaranteed amount of ₹410.78 crore.

Furthermore, the Tamil Nadu Trade Receivables and Discount Platform (TReDS) have been established to streamline financial processes for MSMEs. This platform enables MSMEs to submit their invoices to banks, facilitating quick access to loans. A significant sum of ₹1,289.22 crore has already been disbursed against 6,900 invoices from micro, small, and medium enterprises under this initiative, enhancing financial support and liquidity for these businesses.
