Tamil Nadu Plans Rs. 400 Crore Footwear Park, Announces Chief Minister Stalin

In a significant move towards boosting the state's industrial landscape, the Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, has unveiled plans to establish a footwear manufacturing park with a budget of Rs. 400 crore, spanning 250 acres of land in Panapakkam, Ranipet district. This initiative is expected to generate around 20,000 new job opportunities.

The announcement came during an event where Chief Minister Stalin virtually inaugurated a footwear manufacturing facility set up by JR One Footwear Pvt Ltd in Eraiyur, Perambalur district. This facility, established with an investment of Rs. 400 crore, served as a testament to the government's commitment to attracting investments in less developed districts.

Highlighting the government's efforts in the leather and footwear sectors over the past two years, Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the developmental changes brought about by the footwear and leather products policy released in 2022. "The day is not far when Tamil Nadu achieves the USD 1 trillion economy by 2030," he stated, expressing confidence in the state's growth trajectory.

Underlining the strategic significance of the proposed footwear manufacturing park in Panapakkam, Chief Minister Stalin outlined the plan to create 20,000 jobs and strengthen Tamil Nadu's position in the leather and footwear sectors. Additionally, the government intends to establish industrial parks, covering 50 acres, through public-private partnerships, further promoting growth in these industries.

Commenting on the Eraiyur facility's inauguration, Chief Minister Stalin remarked on the positive impact of government initiatives to attract investments in economically backward districts. He emphasized that the Eraiyur factory, with its investment of Rs. 400 crore, is set to create 20,000 jobs, particularly benefiting residents of Perambalur and neighboring districts, with a focus on empowering women in the workforce.
