Tamil Nadu is set to embark on an ambitious journey to establish a cutting-edge knowledge hub near Chennai, with the goal of creating a dynamic global knowledge ecosystem that will unite universities, knowledge-driven industries, and sustainable community living within a single sprawling location.

This monumental initiative, known as the Tamil Nadu Knowledge City (TKC), will unfold across 1,424 acres in Uthukottai taluk and Vengal village, located in Tiruvallur District. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (Tidco), the designated agency responsible for overseeing the development of TKC, has recently issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select a consultant tasked with preparing a comprehensive Techno-Economic Feasibility Report, which will serve as the blueprint for bringing TKC to life.

The State government's commitment to this visionary project was underscored with its announcement in the 2022-23 Budget. The TKC aspires to rank among India's most expansive knowledge parks, attracting prestigious universities and institutions from both national and international spheres, as well as technologically advanced entities spanning diverse sectors.

Crucially, the TKC's environment will be designed to facilitate the open and seamless exchange of knowledge, promoting collaboration and mutual learning between Tamil Nadu, India, and the rest of the world. In turn, this initiative will foster the two-way flow of knowledge, enriching the global landscape and positioning Tamil Nadu as a beacon of innovation and intellectual vitality.
