Tata Motors partners with Tata Power to set up chargers for electric commercial vehicles
Tata Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy to establish 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles across major Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This initiative aims to support the growing electric commercial vehicle market by enhancing the charging infrastructure.
The partnership will offer exclusive charging tariffs for Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle owners, thereby reducing operating costs and boosting profitability for customers. With this expansion, electric commercial vehicle users will eventually have access to nearly 1,000 fast chargers.
Vinay Pathak, Vice-President & Business Head – SCV&PU at Tata Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Tata Power to transform the electric commercial vehicle landscape. This initiative will make fast chargers more accessible and support the broader adoption of eco-friendly and emission-free vehicles. We are also exploring ways to integrate renewable energy to further green electric vehicle operations.”
Tata Power, under its EZ Charge brand, has developed an extensive network of over 100,000 home chargers, more than 5,500 public and semi-public charging points, and over 1,100 bus charging stations spread across 530 cities and towns.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “Tata Power’s extensive EV charging network across various segments, including public, semi-public, and bus/fleet chargers, demonstrates our commitment to advancing e-mobility. This collaboration will expand our reach into the commercial vehicle sector, providing a comprehensive and reliable charging network throughout India.”
