Tata's Mundra UMPP gets green certification.

India's first Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) of 4,000 megawatt, developed by Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd. (CGPL), recently announced that it has been certified by the Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS) for quality, environment and OHSAS Management Systems.

CGPL, Mundra, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has received from IRQS the Certificates of Approval for successful implementation of QMS: ISO 9001:2008, EMS: ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS: 18001:2007 systems.

With the aim to achieve industry norms in management systems and ensuring continual improvement and innovation across its operations, CGPL successfully integrated QMS, EMS and OHSAS Systems, K. K. Sharma, Executive Director and CEO, said.

The Integrated Management System (IMS) Policy was signed on October 1, 2013. In less than ten months, the CGPL team successfully integrated all the three systems and completed the Certification Audit complying with all requirements.

The IMS Certification has been given in recognition of the processes and systems in place to ensure safe and healthy work environment in the company’s operations.

Currently, Tata Power, together with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed gross generation capacity of 8,613 MW in India and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. fuel security and logistics, generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), transmission, distribution and trading.
