Tenders invited for reconstruction of remaining stretches on Shiradi Ghat.

The National Highways Division of the Public Works Department has invited tenders for reconstruction of a 12-km stretch of Shiradi Ghat as well as a 21-km stretch of non-Ghat stretch.

With January 24 being the last date to submit tenders, the work is expected to commence in full swing from February/March.

Replying to an unstarred question by Ivan D'Souza at the Legislative Council in Belagavi recently , Minister for Public Works H.C. Mahadevappa said the tender for the reconstruction of 11.77- km stretch (from chainage 237 km to 250.62 km) with concrete had been awarded to Ocean Constructions at Rs. 64.11 crore.

Work on the stretch had begun and was expected to end by November 2015, he said.

Tenders for reconstruction with concrete the stretch between chainage 250.62 km to 263 km and for strengthening with bitumen the stretch between chainage 216 km to 237 km were invited on December 3.

The Union government gave approval for reconstructing this stretch on May 16 at an estimated cost of Rs. 85.28 crore under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode, Mr. Mahadevappa said.
