Three flyovers in Yelahanka.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has grand plans to eliminate traffic snarls in Yelahanka for the next 15 years. In the works is the construction of three flyovers to ensure smooth movement of vehicles towards Kempegowda International Airport and Doddaballapur.

“Yelahanka will get three new flyovers. We have completed the tender process for two of these and will issue work orders to the infrastructure companies. These flyovers are expected to prevent traffic congestions for the next 15 years,’’ said Yelahanka MLA SR Vishwanath.

On Tuesday, MLA Vishwanath kicked off developmental work worth Rs. 23 crore at Ward number 4. The BBMP has floated tenders for two flyovers – one at Yelahanka Police Station and the other at Gangamma Circle near MS Palya. A detailed project report is being prepared for the flyover between Kempegowda Circle and Kogilu Junction. According to BBMP Assistant Engineer (projects) Kempe Gowda, the proposed flyovers would make the ride from areas such as Peenya, Dasarahalli and Hesaraghatta to the Kempegowda International Airport smoother.

The flyover to be constructed in front of Yelahanka Police Station would be 820-metre-long with four lanes and it will be bidirectional. “This flyover will help commuters avoid three traffic signals either to go towards Chikkaballapur or Doddaballapur. The flyover is estimated to cost around Rs. 54.23 crore,’’ said Kempe Gowda.

According to him, the proposed flyover at MS Palya, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.04 crore, would be a three-pronged one. The proposed flyover between Kempegowda Circle and Kogilu is expected to decongest traffic during peak hours.
