TN seeks additional water from Telugu Ganga.

The Tamil Nadu government has requested Andhra Pradesh to release additional water from the Telugu Ganga project.

During the 43rd Liaison Committee Meeting on Telugu Ganga Project held recently at the AP Secretariat between Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao and his Tamil Nadu counterpart Gnanadesikan, the latter requested AP to release additional water.

According to a statement, Gnanadesikan called upon AP to supply of 8.716 TMC ft water during the current year, and for release of water from Kandaleru Reservior to be stepped up to 500 cusecs at the Tamil Nadu State border.

It was also sought for steps to be taken up to maintain the threshold level at Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs at 5 TMC ft reserve storage.
