"Transmission Projects Energize Order Books in Power Equipment Sector"

Suppliers of power equipment find themselves in a favorable position with abundant order books anticipated for the next two financial years, thanks to the unprecedented surge in tendering for large-scale power transmission projects. The period from April to December 2023 witnessed the offering of nearly 35 transmission projects valued at Rs.. 60,000 crore through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB). In comparison, 2022 saw projects worth Rs 12,000 crore being tendered.

The majority of these projects aim to establish connections between green energy projects and zones with the national grid, reflecting the industry's focus on renewable energy initiatives. An analysis by ICICI Securities revealed that the total levelized tariff discovered in the bidding process until November 2023 amounted to Rs. 32,000 crore. This trend underscores the robust activity and growth within the power equipment sector, driven by the significant demand arising from the surge in transmission projects across the country.
