Union Cabinet nod for redevelopment of residential colonies in AIIMS complex.

The Union cabinet recently approved the redevelopment of residential colonies at the West Ansari Nagar and Ayur Vigyan Nagar campuses of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AllMS) at a cost of Rs. 4,441 crore, including maintenance and operation costs for 30 years.

The National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd will undertake th
exercise to replace the existing housing stock of 1,444 dwelling units of Type I to IV and 3,928 dwelling units of Type II to VI. “… The cabinet clearance will pave the way for better accommodation for AIIMS staff…,” said Union Health Minister J P Nadda.

Currently, only 4 per cent of AIIMS doctors and staff entitled to an accommodation get one. With the new dwelling units, almost 44 per cent of AIIMS doctors and staff will get accommodation.
