Va Tech WABAG Secures ₹1,000-Crore Contract to Build 100 MLD Desalination Plant

Va Tech WABAG, a key player in water technology, has secured a ₹1,000-crore contract from Indosol Solar Pvt Ltd to build a 100 million liters per day (MLD) desalination plant. The project, which includes engineering procurement (EP) for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the plant, is set to be completed over 38 months. It also includes a 15-year operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement.

The desalination plant will incorporate cutting-edge technologies to ensure reliable water production for Indosol Solar’s 10-GW integrated solar PV manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh.

“This order represents WABAG’s entry into the solar PV sector, a significant growth area. Our expertise and competitive pricing enabled us to offer the lowest life-cycle cost of water for Indosol Solar,” said Saravanan Krishnan, Head of Desalination for WABAG’s India Cluster.

In addition to expanding into the solar PV sector, WABAG is pursuing growth opportunities in the semiconductor and green hydrogen sectors to meet rising water demands. These initiatives are expected to gain momentum in the next few years, according to a report by Axis Securities.
