VA Tech Wabag Wins Major Contract in Tunisia

Va Tech Wabag Ltd. has secured a significant consortium order from the National Sanitation Office of Tunisia (ONAS) for the design, construction, and operation of a 36 million liters per day (MLD) wastewater treatment plant at Sousse Hamdoun II in Tunisia. The order is valued at 11.42 crore Tunisian Dinars, approximately ₹304.93 crore.

This project is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Investment Bank (BEI), and the European Union (EU). It aims to bolster Wabag's presence in Tunisia and the North African region, marking a strategic expansion for the company.

The project is expected to be executed over the next 24 months, followed by a 12-month operation and maintenance phase. Wabag will be responsible for engineering and procurement, as well as the operation and maintenance of the plant.

Habib Derouich, CEO of Wabag Tunisia, expressed his gratitude for the contract, saying, "We express our gratitude to ONAS for their continued trust and confidence in Wabag. With this repeat order won amidst strong global competition, Wabag further strengthens its market leadership in Tunisia and the North African region."

The new plant is part of Tunisia's efforts to improve wastewater treatment and sanitation infrastructure, contributing to environmental sustainability and public health. Wabag's successful bid and planned execution will reinforce the company's reputation as a leading player in the water treatment industry in North Africa.
