Viom Networks, GTL sign MoU with Japan's NEDO for green tower project.

Telecom tower firms Viom Networks and GTL on recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) for a demonstration project, which is aimed at reducing the diesel consumption and introducing renewable energy.

Both the companies will do the project on the outskirts of major cities like Delhi and Mumbai and other parts of India, covering a total of 62 sites.

'Out of this, EMS (energy management system) will be demonstrated in 20 sites and photo catalyst paint demonstration will be at 52 sites,' a NEDO note said.

These projects aim to demonstrate a system which will help in reducing the consumption of diesel and stable supply of electricity in telecom towers through introducing renewable energy and lithium ion batteries and application of energy management system supplied by Japan's NEC.
