VIT and Nokia Sign MoU for Collaborative Research on 5G

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and Nokia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing collaborative research in 5G and next-generation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

Under the MoU, Nokia experts will join VIT’s Board of Studies and actively mentor students and faculty members through hands-on learning, prototyping, and student projects. The collaboration will involve close engagement with relevant departments at VIT to align educational initiatives with Nokia’s project and skill requirements.

Key focus areas of the partnership include new developments in 5G, AI-enhanced communication, digital twins, radio-based sensing, connected aerial vehicles, eHealth, cloud technologies, automation, and zero-touch mobile networks.

The agreement also facilitates the exchange of research insights and practices through corporate and academic training sessions based on the expertise of both partners. Nokia will offer practical learning opportunities for VIT students and jointly organize short-term continuing education programs.

This collaboration aims to foster innovation and prepare students for future technological challenges in telecommunications and related fields, leveraging Nokia’s global leadership and VIT’s academic excellence.
