Work on new road begins in Kochi.

To overcome the issue of traffic snarls caused by metro rail works in the city, the Greater Cochin Development Authority has commenced works for opening a new route from Kaloor to Pulleppady.

The road, which starts from PVS Hospital near Kaloor and proceeds through Kottekanal Road, will end at a junction near the Pulleppady bridge. The move comes after residents' associations demanded the opening of a new road. N. Venugopal, chairman of GCDA, said work on the road had begun and it would be thrown open to the public by October 30.
