Bharti Space Ltd Commits ₹313 Crore to Eutelsat Satellite Expansion.

Bharti Space, a subsidiary of the Indian conglomerate Bharti Enterprises, has announced a significant investment of €31.4 million (approximately ₹312.8 crore) in French satellite operator Eutelsat. This investment is part of Eutelsat's ambitious plan to raise a total of €1.35 billion (around ₹13,452 crore) through a consortium of investors, including the French State, shipping giant CMA CGM, and FSP.

Eutelsat's capital increase will be executed through two distinct transactions. The first is a reserved capital increase of €716 million (approximately ₹7,134 crore) at a price of €4 per share. This price represents a notable premium of over 32 percent for new investors. The second component is a rights issue aimed at raising €634 million (approximately ₹6,317 crore). Both transactions are projected to be finalized by the end of calendar year 2025.

Following the completion of these two capital-raising initiatives, Bharti Space Limited's stake in Eutelsat will adjust from its current 24 percent to 18.70 percent. The French State is set to emerge as the largest shareholder, holding a 29.99 percent stake. Other key investors will include CMA CGM with 7.81 percent and FSP with 5.22 percent.

Notably, the terms of the reserved capital increase specify that the participating investors, including Bharti Space, will not be in a position to launch a public takeover of Eutelsat. This structure aims to diversify Eutelsat's ownership while bringing in substantial new capital for its future endeavors.
