Kathmandu: Ministry urges on Saptakoshi feasibility study

Kathmandu: Ministry of Water resources yesterday urged not to obstruct the feasibility study of the Saptakoshi High Dam Multi-Purpose and Sunkoshi Storage Cum Diversion Project.

The Ministry said the ongoing works were only related to the feasibility study and not the construction of the project. “The work has been adversely affected due to inaccurate reporting. We urge not to be swayed by any kind of rumour,” stated the release. The clarification comes in the wake of the authorities’ failure to meet the two-year deadline for the project.

The time frame has since been extended by a year. Meanwhile, 33 NC CA members today met Minister for Water Resources Bishnu Paudel and submitted a memorandum, demanding a relief package to tide over ongoing power woes.
