MyTVS, Oriental join hands for emergency help service
Chennai: MyTVS, the car service business of TVS & Sons Ltd, and the public sector non-life insurance company The Oriental Insurance Company, joined hands to launch a product that will provide emergency roadside assistance to passenger car policy holders.
“Our Oriental – MyTVS Emergency Roadside Assistance’ is a service that is available to owners of cars that are less than 10 years old. Oriental has also authorised MyTVS workshops for providing cashless claim settlement in case of accidents,” Mr M. Ramadoss, Chairman and Managing Director, Oriental Insurance, said.
In case of an emergency, customers need only to dial a toll-free number and the vehicle will be attended to within the hour in cities, within 90 minutes on highways and in two hours in ghat sections. “This is first of its kind scheme in the Indian general insurance industry,” Mr Ramadoss said.
Policy holders will get this service free of cost, which would otherwise have cost them Rs 1,200 as annual subscription charges to get such service from MyTVS. Initially this service is available for the policy holders in the southern region. Of the 55 lakh motor policy holders of the company, about 3.65 lakh are from the South. Eight out of 10 own vehicles that are less than 10 years old.
The Executive Director of TVS & Sons, Mr R. Dinesh, said the roadside assistance service would be pan India by August.
This would help Oriental Insurance to expand its service to policy holders across country, he said. Towards this MyTVS would be investing about Rs 3 crore. Both MyTVS and Oriental would benefit out of each others’ customer base, Mr Dinesh said.
