Rs. 200 cr. for second phase of NH widening.

Work on widening the 29.2-km Karamana-Kaliyikkavila stretch of NH-66 has got a boost with the allocation in the revised budget of Rs.200 crore for the project’s second phase development from Pravachambalam to Vazhimukku.

The announcement would provide an impetus to work on the project that had been halted after the completion of the first reach from Karamana to Pravachambalam. While an amount of Rs. 266 crore is required for land acquisition for the second reach, only Rs.100 crore had been released as yet.

Budgetary allocations have also been made for infrastructure development aimed at overcoming the problem of traffic congestion in the city and major towns in the district. An amount of Rs.10 crore has been earmarked for the construction of underpasses at Peroorkada and Pattom junctions.

An allocation of Rs.25 crore has been made for constructing flyovers at the Ulloor and Kumarapuram junctions.
