SUTP recognition for integrated water transport plan.

The Central government supported Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) has selected the Integrated Water Transport for Kochi as one of the best detailed project reports in public transport initiatives in the last three years.

An official statement by KMRL said the SUTP has selected the IWT (Integrated Water Transport) for Kochi as one among the best four proposals. The move is expected to leverage KMRL’s vision for 'seamless integration of public transport modes within Kochi' and foster the prospect of Kochi to become one among the 20 smart cities in the country. KMRL submitted the concept proposal on IWT to the SUTP in August 2014 and commissioned the Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd in December 2014.

Having sent for clearance from the State government, the DPR has received a clearance from the State Planning Board and it now awaits the final nod from the Kerala government.
