US Pharmacopoeia unit in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: UNITED States Pharmacopoeia (USP) has started its Indian operations by opening its first overseas site at ICICI Knowledge Park here.

USP is the official public standards-setting authority for medicines, dietary supplements, and other healthcare products manufactured and sold in the US.

The President of USP, Dr Darell R. Abernethy, inaugurated the office and laboratory on Wednesday. 'India's achievements in the global pharmaceutical industry are significant and we feel honoured to be here,' he said.

According to the Executive Vice-President and CEO of USP, Dr Roger L. Williams, his organisation has worked with the Central and State Governments and manufacturers here on many scientific and policy initiatives.
