World Bank Officials Review Proposed Solar Parks in TS.

The World Bank officials recently held separate discussions with the energy officials of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on implementation of the proposed solar parks in both the states.

During a meeting with AP energy secretary Ajay Jain, World Bank representative Mona Mukherjee and ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) joint secretary Tarun Kapoor discussed about the 2,5000 MW solar parks to be set up in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts of the state. Giving a power-point presentation on the proposed solar parks, Jain said that the detailed report on the projects would be sent to the MNRE soon. The AP state was expecting release of Rs. 125-crore grant for the solar parks by the end of December and another Rs. 375-crore in 2015, he added. The World Bank expressed satisfaction about the progress of land acquisition for solar parks and came forward to fund evacuation of power to be generated in solar parks.

Later in the evening, the World Bank and MNRE officials called on Telangana energy secretary SK Joshi at the Secretariat where they reviewed the progress of proposed 1,000-MW solar park in Mahbubnagar district.
