550m oval-shaped Burj Jumeirah tower unveiled for Dubai.

UAE-based real estate company, Dubai Holding, has unveiled a new oval-shaped skyscraper for Dubai called the Burj Jumeirah, part of a wider master plan called Downtown Jumeirah.

The project was inaugurated by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, on 31 January, 2019.

Burj Jumeirah will be located close to Burj Al Arab in Al Sufouh, and is set to become the 'centrepiece' of Downtown Jumeirah, a new master plan envisioned by the developer, comprising a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use urban development.

According to Dubai Media Office, the 550m Burj Jumeirah will comprise multiple observation decks offering panoramic views of the city, with a design that is inspired by the "the harmonious ripples of the UAE’s desert sand dunes and its flowing oases".

The National also reported that the tower "will bear the imprint of the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, is set to become the latest building to define Dubai's skyline."

The facade of the building is also set to feature a digital displays that will be utilised for various occasions and celebrations.

The architecture firm behind the tower has not yet been confirmed, however the developer has announced that construction on the building will commence immediately, with Phase 1 due to the delivered in 2023.
