9 uplift projects completed in Kabul

Kabul: Nine uplift projects at a cost of over 22 million Afghanis were completed at Bagrami district of Kabul province. Asadullah Safi, National Solidarity Programme (NSP) officer in Bagrami district told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects consisted of leveling roads, supportive walls, bridges, and cleansing up of canals. He said over 5000 families would benefit from the projects.

He said the projects were completed with 10 per cent contribution from the local population under NSP of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitations and Development (MRRD)

Muhammad Haji Zahir Popalzai, Bagrami district chief said 42 NSP projects are underway and 26 others have newly been approved for the district.

He said the projects consist of road leveling, construction of bridges, schools, clinics and providing drinking water.

These projects are proposed by Community Development Councils (CDCs) to NSP.

Meanwhile the foundation of a bridge in Paich valley of Mano Gai district in eastern Kunar province was laid on Monday which will cost about $300,000.

Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi, the governor of the province told this news agency the bridge was 45 meter long and 7 meter wide.

He said Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) will provide the grant for the bridge and asked the residents to help in providing security to engineers and workers of the bridge.

He said: 'if the people help the staff the bridge will be constructed on time, and other reconstruction projects will be launched'
