"HMWSSB initiates a 'mini master plan' for sewerage systems to support the rapid growth of Nanakramguda and the Financial District."

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has decided to prepare a mini sewerage master plan to strengthen the sewerage network and construct trunk mains in the rapidly developing areas of Nanakramguda and the Financial District.

The area-specific plans will factor in projected growth and include an analysis of existing drains, stormwater networks and sewerage trunk mains to ensure integrated planning, officials said.

HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy stressed the need for complete segregation of sewer lines and stormwater drains and directed officials to submit proposals for new sewerage trunk mains and sub-sewerage lines in line with the Hyderabad 2047 Master Plan.

He also asked officials to assess sewage generation within the Nanakramguda sewage treatment plant (STP) catchment areas and to plan enhancements in treatment capacity to meet future demand. In addition, the managing director sought proposals for the construction of a sewer trunk main to divert sewage generated in Gachibowli and surrounding areas to the Kokapet STP for treatment.
