Adani Group has approached the Gujarat government for land parcels to establish a new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Ahmedabad and a township in Gandhinagar, according to information presented in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The request involves a land exchange proposal with the state government.
In a written response to a question by Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar during the Question Hour on Monday, the Gujarat government stated that Adani Group has requested a total of 29,847 square meters of land in Ahmedabad. The company has proposed an exchange involving 33,286 square meters from Survey Number 292 in Moje Khodiyar, Daskroi Taluka, for 18,718 square meters from Survey Number 329 and 11,129 square meters from Survey Number 361, amounting to 29,847 square meters. The requested land is intended for the development of a SEZ as part of a modern township.
Additionally, Adani Group has sought 63,334 square meters of land in Gandhinagar district for a township project. This request involves an exchange for 61,211 square meters of land in Dantali Taluka of Gandhinagar. The company has also sought 202 square meters of land in Kalol Taluka. All three land exchange requests are currently pending with the Gujarat government.
When contacted for details regarding the projects, an Adani Group spokesperson declined to comment. The company has previously developed the "Adani Shantigram" township on 580 acres in Ahmedabad, an integrated residential project launched in 2010, which has provided homes to 7,000 families, according to the company’s website.
