AMD Unveils Largest Global Design Centre in India

Semiconductor giant AMD has officially opened its largest global design centre in Bengaluru, aligning with the company's commitment to bolster research, development, and engineering endeavors in India.

The newly inaugurated AMD Technostar campus is slated to accommodate approximately 3,000 AMD engineers in the coming years, focusing on advancing semiconductor technology in areas such as 3D stacking, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and more.

This move is part of AMD's substantial $400 million investment in India over the next five years, a commitment disclosed at Semicon India 2023. The Technostar campus is positioned to function as a center of excellence for the development of cutting-edge products across various domains, including high-performance CPUs for data centers and PCs, data center and gaming GPUs, as well as adaptive SoCs and FPGAs for embedded devices.

Mark Papermaster, AMD's Executive Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer, underscored the significance of this investment, stating, "This investment strengthens our relationship with India and showcases our confidence in the exceptional engineering talent that the country has to offer. The relentless pursuit of engineering excellence and innovation is the cornerstone of our success."

The newly established design centre is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing technology and product development across AMD's portfolio, driving the next generation of high-performance, adaptive, and AI computing solutions for customers worldwide.

The inauguration ceremony of the campus was presided over by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Cabinet Minister for Railways, Telecommunications, Electronics, and Information Technology in the Government of India. The event marks a significant milestone in AMD's commitment to fostering technological innovation and collaboration in India's burgeoning engineering landscape.
