Tata Communications Announces ₹4,350 Crore Investment in India's AI Super Highway
Tata Communications has announced a major investment of ₹4,350 crore to develop India's AI Super Highway, strengthening the country's digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence ecosystem. The ambitious project involves establishing approximately 10,000 kilometres of AI-ready optical fibre connectivity across multiple Indian cities, enabling high-speed, low-latency communication between data centres and technology hubs.
The project will be implemented in three phases, initially connecting Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai. Subsequent expansion will cover Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Jamnagar and GIFT City, creating an integrated nationwide digital connectivity network.
The investment will support hyperscale data centres, cloud computing platforms, artificial intelligence applications and enterprise digital transformation. Tata Communications plans to integrate the infrastructure with its existing global network, enhancing international connectivity and data transmission capabilities.
This strategic investment is expected to generate significant opportunities for telecommunications infrastructure providers, optical fibre manufacturers, networking equipment suppliers and engineering contractors while positioning India as a major global AI infrastructure destination.
