AP gets Rs. 975-cr. Nabard grant.

Andhra Pradesh received yet another tranche, a Rs. 975-crore grant from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.

The amount will be released to various departments such as Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, R&B, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, APSIDC, Horticulture, Minor irrigation, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Tribal Welfare , Andhra Pradesh State Residential Schools and Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University in Hyderabad and Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

The State would contribute Rs.126 crore as its share towards taking up projects under the above departments which include roads, construction of health centres, lift irrigation schemes, micro irrigation, tanks and canals, veterinary hospitals, residential schools, bridges and buildings in agency areas and 12 residential education complexes. The Finance Department has suggested that out of the Rs.105 crore including the State share of Rs.5 crore will be allocated to Animal Husbandry, Rs.50 crore to Fisheries infrastructure. Instead of building rural livestock units, funds should be used to strengthen referral hospitals and introduce mobile veterinary service, it said.
