AP Government Aims to Complete Polavaram Project by October 2026: CM Naidu.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state government is targeting to complete the Polavaram project by October 2026. During a site visit on Monday, Naidu emphasized that upon completion, the project would be a major boon for the state, bringing an additional 7.20 lakh acres under cultivation, supplying drinking water to 28 lakh people, and enabling 960 MW of power generation. The project will also address the water needs of Visakhapatnam's industries and residents.
“Polavaram will be a game-changer if river inter-linking projects are implemented after its completion. Linking the Krishna to Nagarjuna Sagar Canal should be a future goal,” Naidu stated. He further suggested that bringing Godavari water to Visakhapatnam could help supply water to other regions of the state as well, benefiting the entire state.
Naidu also described the Polavaram project and the new capital at Amaravati as "two eyes" for the state, reaffirming the NDA government's commitment to completing both projects within the next three years.
