APSEZ's Sri Lanka Port Terminal Begins Operations.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) recently announced the commencement of operations at the Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT), a key infrastructure project at the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka.

Developed under a 35-year Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) agreement, CWIT is operated by a consortium comprising APSEZ, Sri Lankan conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The project was executed under a public–private partnership model.

Commenting on the milestone, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, said, “The CWIT project will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs locally and unlock immense economic value for the island nation. It is a testament to the strong friendship and growing strategic ties between India and Sri Lanka, and to what can be achieved through visionary public–private partnerships.”

He also highlighted that completing the world-class terminal in record time demonstrates the Adani Group’s capability in executing large-scale infrastructure projects globally.
