Azure Power commissions 30 MW solar power plant in Durg, Chhattisgarh.

Azure Power recently said it has commissioned the first large scale solar power plant of 30 MW capacity in Durg, Chhattisgarh.

Azure, an independent solar power producer, had won the project under the Chhasttisgarh Solar Policy 2012-2017 to supply power to Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited ( CPDCL), for 25 years.

'Spread across 150 acres of land, the power plant installation in Chhattisgarh completed in three phases of 10 MW each. The first phase was completed in the month of June and remaining 20 MW was commissioned in the consecutive months,' the company said in a statement.

Recently, Azure Power commissioned a 100 MW capacity plant in Rajasthan, largest solar power project under the National Solar Mission making Azure the single largest owner and operator of projects under the NSM with a cumulative operational capacity of 142 MW.

Speaking on this occasion, Inderpreet Wadhwa, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Azure Power said, 'This is the first large scale capacity project operational under the Chhasttisgarh Solar and we are proud to have successfully brought down the cost of power by almost 64 per cent from Rs. 17.91 per unit in 2009 to Rs. 6.45 , for this project.'
