Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inspects Progress on New Four-Lane Bridge.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday, June 8, 2025, conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction of the new four-lane bridge being built parallel to the iconic Mahatma Gandhi Setu over the Ganga River near Gaighat. The Chief Minister urged officials to expedite the completion of the crucial infrastructure project, which is set to significantly improve connectivity between North and South Bihar.

During his visit, CM Kumar meticulously reviewed the progress of the 14.5-km-long bridge and its approach roads, traversing from the southern to the northern end of the Ganga. He made a specific stop near pillar number 9 at Saifpur, near Hajipur, where he engaged with officials to understand the intricacies of the construction work.

Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Road Construction Department, informed the Chief Minister that the project is progressing rapidly. "The construction of this bridge, which is being built parallel to the Gandhi Setu, is progressing rapidly. Additionally, an 8-lane approach road is also being constructed on both sides," Singh stated.

Chief Minister Kumar emphasized the transformative impact of the new bridge, stating, "The construction of this parallel bridge will facilitate easier transportation between North Bihar and South Bihar. The people of Muzaffarpur, Saran, and Vaishali districts will benefit directly, and reaching Patna will become easier for them. I have continuously been monitoring the construction of the parallel bridge."

The inspection saw the presence of several key officials, including Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary (RCD) Mihir Kumar Singh, Chief Minister's Secretary-cum-Building Construction Secretary Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Road Construction Department Sandeep Kumar P Pudakalkatti, Patna District Magistrate Thyagarajan SM, Vaishali District Magistrate Varsha Singh, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar, Vaishali Superintendent of Police Lalit Mohan Sharma, and other senior officials.
