Cabinet Approves Greater Bengaluru Integrated Suburban Project to Ease City Congestion.

The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Suburban project, aimed at alleviating congestion in Bengaluru by developing satellite townships around the city. The project will focus on enhancing connectivity through road and rail infrastructure in areas such as Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hoskote, Doddaballapur, Magadi, and Bidadi. These areas will be developed to relieve pressure on Bengaluru, which is facing increasing urban strain.

Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil, speaking after the cabinet meeting, said the initiative will involve developing infrastructure and creating job opportunities in the satellite towns. The project will span 10 villages in Ramanagara district, including Bairamangala, Bannigere, Hosur, and several others, under the supervision of the Greater Bengaluru Development Authority.

The government aims to create sustainable cities with modern infrastructure, making them attractive for residents and businesses. A committee will be formed, led by the Additional Chief Secretary, to oversee the implementation of these suburban projects. Additionally, the government will call for global tenders to hire a qualified firm to design the township following the Work-Live-Play concept, meeting international standards.

The cabinet also discussed introducing legislation to address issues related to microfinance companies, with the Chief Minister authorized to make the final decisions.
