CCI Clears ONGC-NTPC Green’s Full Acquisition of Ayana Renewable Power.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved ONGC NTPC Green Private Ltd’s 100% acquisition of Ayana Renewable Power Private Ltd, marking a significant consolidation in India’s renewable energy sector.

Ayana Renewable Power, a key player in India’s clean energy transition, specializes in large-scale solar and wind projects. Its acquisition by ONGC NTPC Green—a joint venture of ONGC Green Limited and NTPC Green Energy Limited—provides the newly formed entity with an immediate and strong foothold in the renewable energy market.

Though ONGC NTPC Green is not yet operational, its parent companies, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and NTPC Limited, are actively expanding their renewable energy portfolios. This acquisition aligns with India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and strengthens the country’s push toward a sustainable energy mix.

While financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, industry analysts view the acquisition as a strategic move to enhance competitiveness in the fast-growing green energy sector. The CCI’s detailed order is expected to provide further regulatory insights into the transaction.

With this approval, ONGC and NTPC—traditionally dominant in fossil fuel and thermal power—are reinforcing their commitment to energy diversification. By integrating Ayana’s expertise and assets, the joint venture is set to play a crucial role in shaping India’s renewable energy landscape.
