CDA to launch 3 major projects.
Offering better services and amenities for the public, the Calicut Development Authority (CDA) will launch its three new multi-crore development projects in the city recently.
CDA will invest nearly Rs. 40 crore for the projects which include the Ramanattukara town revitalisation programme, Vattakkinar junction improvement project and a hostel-cum-apartment construction project for working women at Bilathikulam.
The Ramanattukara town revitalisation programme implemented at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crore will primarily look into the overall beautification of the town by widening some of the roads, improving the parking space for vehicles and the reconstruction of drainage facilities.
Under the scheme, wayside vending will be completely relocated to specially arranged locations.
On completion of the project, there will be better city lighting, traffic signal systems and waiting shelters for travellers in the town.
The Vattakkinar junction improvement programme will give a facelift to the area. According to CDA officials, the area is currently crowded with vehicles with the poor parking facilities. A walkway for the pedestrians would be built.
Development of Vattakkinar-Beypore road is a high priority under the scheme and special projects are on the anvil to arrange separate parking facilities for two-wheelers, light motor vehicles and heavy goods carriers, they add.
The hostel-cum-apartment project coming up at an area of 60 cents land at Bilathikulam will give affordable stay for the working women in the city.
The apartment project will mainly target the middle income groups to have own homes.
There will be 10 floors as per the approved plan of which six will be sold as apartments at affordable rates. Minister for Ubran Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali will inaugurate the projects. Mayor V.K.C. Mammad Koya will preside over the functions.
