Centre Refines Rs. 5,367 Crore Industrial Corridor Projects for Andhra Pradesh
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced recntly that the Centre has completed the final preparations for two major industrial projects in Andhra Pradesh. These projects, aimed at developing the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool district and the Kopparthy Industrial Area in YSR Kadapa district, represent an investment of Rs. 5,367 crores under the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC).
Strategically located near key highways, railway lines, and seaports, these projects are designed to enhance infrastructure and attract industries to the region. The initiative aims not only to foster industrial growth but also to catalyze socio-economic development and create substantial employment opportunities.
The decision to move forward with these projects was made during a meeting chaired by Rajeev Singh
Thakur, Additional Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), on June 21. The meeting focused on ensuring integrated planning and adherence to PM Gati Shakti principles, emphasizing socio-economic benefits, enhanced connectivity, reduced transit costs, and improved operational efficiency, according to the Ministry.
The projects are expected to play a pivotal role in bolstering industrial infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, aligning with the government's broader objectives of accelerating economic growth and fostering sustainable development across the region.
