CM declares open bypass road.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami declared open the second phase of the new bypass road stretch skirting Thanjavur to connect Vallam and Tiruvaiyaru road through video conferencing from Chennai.

The new road stretch lengthens to a distance of 14.26 km linking Collector’s Office at Pillayarpatti with Ammanpettai on the Tiruvaiyaru road and was constructed at a cost of ₹ 42 crore.

The road stretch has two major bridges, three minor bridges and 32 drainage culverts en route.

A massive road over bridge to facilitate vehicles crossing the rail track between Thanjavur Junction and Alakkudi has been constructed at a cost of ₹29 crore and it falls in the course of the new bypass road stretch.

Collector A. Annadurai, Thanjavur MP K. Parasuraman, former Mayor Savithri Gopal, former MLA M. Rethinasamy, Superintending Engineer, Highways, Palani, Divisional Engineer Saravana Selvam, Executive Engineer, PWD, Ravikumar, were present at a special function got up at Ammanpettai as part of the opening ceremony.
