CMRL Begins Third Metro Trial on Porur-Poonamallee Bypass Stretch.
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) announced today that it has begun testing and trial runs on the 'downline' track from Porur Junction Metro Station to Poonamallee Bypass Metro Station, marking a significant step forward for Corridor 4 of its Phase-2 project.
This latest development follows the successful commencement of trials on the 'up' line in the same section. With both tracks now undergoing testing, CMRL expects trial operations to proceed as planned, moving closer to the operational readiness of this crucial metro corridor.
The viaduct section spans approximately 10 kilometers, connecting Porur Junction Metro Station to Poonamallee Bypass Metro Station. This stretch is strategically interconnected with the Poonamallee Metro Depot, which will serve as the central hub for coordinating all testing and commissioning activities for the section.
The initiation of 'downline' trials signifies a major milestone in the expansion of Chennai's metro network, promising enhanced connectivity for residents in these rapidly developing areas.
