Conditional Consent by Palli Sabha for Power Project.
People of Govindpur village too have given conditional consent for setting up the 2X800 MW Gajamara NTPC super thermal power plant at a Palli Sabha held recently. The villagers submitted a memorandum of 21 demands at the meeting headed by Sub-Collector A Champatiray.
NTPC has proposed to establish a project of 2x800 MW at Gajamara. The Palli Sabha was held to seek villagers consent for conversion of 12.88 acres of village forest land near Joranda road railway station.
Some of the demands include improved drinking water services, health services, job opportunities, community centres for women and men, jobs to locals in NTPC project, taking up cashew plantation in 50 acres of Government land, 'adi bandha' for crops and road to each ward.
Village president Subhas Chandra Mohanty sought a written assurance from the officials present. Sadar Block Development Officer Sipra Sethy and NTPC DGM (HR) Jayaprakash Satyakam said all the demands will be fulfilled in phases by the Government and company.
Satyakam said the project is proposed to be set up as a regional station for supplying power to States in the eastern region.
The company will take up a number of projects like infrastructure development, health, education and sanitation through CSR-CD in consultation with the State Government, Satyakam added.
On Friday, people of Patrabhaga village of Saptasajya gram panchayat had given conditional consent for establishment of super thermal power project at the palli sabha meeting in their village.
