Congress steps up opposition to relocation of Pranahita-Chevella project.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee recently stepped up its opposition to the reported move of the State Government to change the location of Pranahita Chevella lift irrigation scheme from Tummidi Hatti to Kaleshwaram.

The Congress demanded that the TRS Government should convene the Assembly immediately to discuss the proposal or hold an all party meeting on the subject.

At a meeting on irrigation projects in Telangana organised by Jala Sadhana Samiti, senior Congress leaders led by the State unit president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly voiced their opposition to the move questioning the rationale behind it.

“When thousands of crores has already been spent on the project, there is no reason why the Government wants to change the location and the design,” Mr. Reddy asked.
